As Regional Director of Strategic Communications and Third Party Outreach, Stephen oversees all communications, public relations and educational outreach projects for the organisation, with the objective of promoting and protecting the commercial and creative interests of the MPA’s member companies’ studios* and Asia’s screen communities in the digital age.

Prior to his role with the MPA, Stephen worked as a consultant to the screen industry in the Asia Pacific region, acting as Special Projects Consultant to the Motion Picture Association (MPA) Asia Pacific; Communications and Public Relations Advisor for the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT); and Public Relations Advisor for the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation (IPAF).

In the past decade Stephen has also been involved in the film and television industry as a writer and producer. He co-wrote “Growl”, a television series produced by Southern Star John Edwards; developed the screen adaptation of Christopher Koch’s novel, “Highways to a War”; produced “Tropfest” and “Market Mentor”, a documentary on Rene Rivkin, for Network Ten, as well as numerous television commercials and short films.

Stephen has worked for large global media organisations in the roles of Manager, Strategic Products & Services, APAC, for Getty Images Ltd; and Manager, Asia Pacific for image.net Ltd, the UK-based online global media content management service for the U.S. major studios and international independent distributors.

Stephen won the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Byron Kennedy Award in 2000 for establishing Inside Film Magazine and the Inside Film Awards. He held the position of Managing Director of Inside Film Magazine and Executive Producer Inside Film Awards from 1996 to 2001. Stephen graduated from the University of Leicester in the UK with degrees in English and Philosophy.
